The Garmin Nuvi 255w Car GPS

I went out for lunch with one of my coworkers today and she pulled out her Garmin Nuvi 255w just to show me how it worked. I’ve been considering buying a car GPS for a long time now and this was really my first experience with one. I have to admit, it was pretty cool to not only see an overhead map of where we were going but also have the unit tell us when to turn. I know I’m significantly behind the times but wow has technology come along way.

I think I may finally move into the modern world with everyone else and pick one of these up. It would certainly make the long summer drive to camp more interesting. Since I only know one way there, this may reveal a quicker route. I am also thinking that we might use the “avoid highways” feature on the way back so that we can see some of the countryside. I know there was a little diner somewhere near camp that I visited as a kid. It would be very cool if we happened to drive by it.
